If you’re a mama, you know what it’s like to constantly be hauling around a million items for your little(s) everywhere you go. Diapers, snacks, sunscreen, toys, books, iPad, extra clothes, and the list goes on. It’s absolutely essential to have the appropriate bags to handle each situation.
We live near the beach and now that Mila is nearly 2, she’s much more interested in beach days than she was before. I was finding myself overloaded with necessities in a bag that really wasn’t made for the beach and simply wasn’t working for me. I needed a better bag to handle the job. Here’s a few great finds to help support your beach or pool day adventures.
Most Lightweight bag: HOXIS Mesh Beach Tote: ~$15
This HOXIS Mesh Beach Tote is simple but effective! You’ll need to handle your own storage (I love these zipper pouches from Amazon and use them for EVERYTHING) but it’s a practical and convenient option for family beach use due to its spacious interior, durability, ventilation, ease of cleaning, and lightweight design.
The tote is made of high-quality, durable mesh material that can withstand the wear and tear of regular use. It also has a sturdy bottom that prevents it from sagging and keeps its contents secure. The mesh material is easy to clean and dries quickly, making it a convenient option for beach trips.

The Bogg Bag - Rubber Beach Bag has gained a lot of popularity in 2023 due to its practicality, durability, and stylish design. I’m personally obsessed! The bag is made from EVA; a durable, waterproof material that makes it perfect for use at the beach, pool, or any other outdoor activity. It is super easy to clean and maintain (literally just hose it down).
The Bogg Bag tote is designed with a unique shape that allows it to stand upright on its own (game changer at the pool where my stuff is literally always falling everywhere), and makes it easy to pack and access all of yours and the kiddos necessities without having to rummage around. It also has multiple interior and exterior pockets of varying sizes, which can be attached using a button feature that allows you to select the placement (genius).
I can’t wait to start rocking mine in Palm Springs this weekend!
Most Pockets: KABAQOO Extra Large Meshed Bag with Pockets: ~$16
The KABAQOO Extra Large Meshed Bag with Pockets is a practical, low cost and convenient option for families. One of the greatest benefits is the number of pockets both inside and outside the bag making organization simple. It claims to carry, “4-6 beach towels, sunscreen, snacks and scuba dive equipment, swimming gear, beach toys, water shoes, water bottles, sunblock, goggles and even has room left.” Sounds a bit aggressive to me but even half of that should be enough to carry the kiddos gear for the day.
It also boasts padded shoulder straps which reviewers claim are comfortable, even when carrying heavier loads. At $16, this sounds like a steal.
Most Eco-Friendly: Baggu Cloud Bag: ~$56
The Baggu Cloud Bag is a major winner when it comes to an eco-friendly and stylish option. I am loving this Taupe option. It’s made from 100% recycled and lightweight ripstop nylon, which reduces the need for virgin materials and minimizes waste. The ripstop nylon material is also durable and long-lasting, which means the bag can be used for ages. More trips to the beach, more days by the pool, and can even serve as your everyday diaper/carry-all bag! This bag transitions well from beach/pool to everyday shopping and traveling and at this price point, you can’t go wrong.
Most Sturdy: Scout Utility Tote: ~$49
The Scout Utility Tote is the most structured of all the totes. It comes in classic striped nautical designs that help maintain a classy look (even if the inside is exploding with crap).
It features a “burst-proof bottom” that ensures it maintains its structure and won’t fall over. This bag can easily carry all your beach and poolside essentials with a roomy interior measuring 19’ W, 15” H, 10’ D, and a heavy-duty 8.25-inch shoulder strap. It’s made from high-quality materials, such as heavy-duty canvas or woven polypropylene, which are designed to withstand daily wear and tear so this one will last you many Summers to come.
The Scout Utility tote is also great for staying organized with multiple pockets. The sturdy structure also helps prevent items from floating around too much and getting lost in the bag. When it’s not being used, it folds down flat for easy storage or packing (hello beach vacation!)
Most Durable: YETI Camino: ~$150
Who doesn’t love YETI? Their products are widely popular for their stellar quality and super functionality. Although they may not have the most chic design for a day at the beach or pool, they do serve their purpose of being highly effective and cross-functional. The YETI Camino is a perfect example of a bag that can transition from beach or pool, to camping (or glamping) and road trips.
It is incredibly durable, with a thickskin and EVA base, helping to maintain the structure and keep it upright. It also has “deployable dividers” that you can use if needed to keep all your family accessories organized. The bag can even hold up to 300lbs (which I can’t think of any reason a persons bag would be carrying 300lbs, but hey, it’s a quality). It also boasts the classic YETI highpoint grid system making it simple to attach additional items to the outside of the bag like portable speakers, bottle openers, key hooks, etc. Since it’s completely waterproof, you can also easily hose it down and rid the bag of any pesky sand once you get home.
Most Sleek: Bellwood Silicone Tote Shoulder Bag
I just came across this Bellwood Silicone tote and it was love at first sight. The bag has a sleek and modern appearance, thanks to its smooth silicone material and minimalist aesthetic. It comes in a range of attractive colors, allowing you to choose the one that suits your personal style. Whether you opt for a vibrant hue or a more subdued tone, this bag is sure to make a fashion statement.
Although this tote bag is on the smaller side (17.3'“ wide and 11” tall), it’s great for keeping your items organized with multiple pockets and compartments. There is a zippered pocket on the exterior for quick access to your phone or keys, while the main compartment offers ample space for larger items and the smaller interior pockets help keep the small things from getting lost or tangled.
The material is water resistant and super easy to clean! If you’re good at keeping your packing to a minimum, this bag is perfect!
